Celebrating its 10th year in 2025, Parrtjima – A Festival in Light continued to captivate audiences with its breath-taking fusion of ancient First Nations storytelling and cutting-edge technology. Held annually at Alice Springs Desert Park, with the majestic West MacDonnell Ranges serving as a natural canvas, the festival brings to life the rich culture and enduring spirit of the Arrernte people through light, sound, and projection.
Novatech has been proud to once again play a key role in helping transform the landscapes of Alice Springs into a vibrant celebration of culture and connection.
With over a kilometre of stunning natural scenery to illuminate, Novatech deployed a fleet of IP-rated lighting fixtures designed to withstand the tough desert conditions which this year included two weeks of rain during the setup. Our line up included the powerful Ayrton Cobra, Domino Wash, and Perseos, which helped wash the ranges in vivid, dynamic colour and light.
Across the festival site, we installed multiple interactive installations and activations using our L-Acoustics speakers for crystal-clear sound delivery, alongside brilliant projections powered by our high-output Barco projectors. Every piece of technology was selected and positioned to honour the stories being told ensuring that the technology enhanced, rather than overpowered, the ancient narratives woven through the event.
From the stunning shifting projections on the MacDonnell Ranges to the rich audio and visual landscapes that guided visitors through each installation, Novatech’s goal was to work with the team from Parrtjima to create a sensory experience that allowed visitors to deeply connect with the stories being shared.
The result was a truly magical celebration that lit up the heart of Australia – honouring tradition while embracing innovation. It was a privilege to work alongside the creative teams at We Are Gather, Grumpy Sailor, NT Major Events Company, and a plethora of local Alice Springs collaborators to bring this unique festival to life once again.
As Parrtjima grows into its second decade, Novatech was proud to support the festival’s evolution, helping to ensure that the light of these incredible stories continues to shine for generations to come.
